How to: Delete a field.
Solution:
To delete a field in the Table Design view, select the field row, and use the 'Delete' or 'Delete Row' command under the 'Edit' menu.
To delete a field in the Table Datasheet view, select the field column, and use the 'Delete Column' command under the 'Edit' menu.
Do one of the following:
NOTE: If the Database window is not active, activate the Database window.
1) To delete a field in the Table Design view:
a) Make sure the table is opened in the Table Design view.
b) Select the field row to delete:
1] Place the cursor over the 'Row Selector' for the desired field. (The cursor turns into a right arrow.)

2] Click mouse button. (The field is highlighted.)
NOTE 1: To select more than one adjacent field, press and hold down SHIFT while selecting the 'Row Selector' for each field.
NOTE 2: To select more than one non-adjacent field, press and hold down CTRL while selecting the 'Row Selector' for each field.
c) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Delete Row' or 'Delete'.
d) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save' to save the changes to the Design view.
NOTE: Changes in the Design view are NOT automatically saved by Access.
2) To delete a field in the Table Datasheet view:
a) Make sure the table is opened in the Table Datasheet view.
b) Select the field column to delete:
1] Place the cursor over the 'Field Selector' for the desired field. (The cursor turns into a down arrow.)

2] Click mouse button. (The field is highlighted.)
NOTE 1: To select more than one adjacent field, press and hold down SHIFT while selecting the 'Field Selector' for each field.
NOTE 2: To select more than one non-adjacent field, press and hold down CTRL while selecting the 'Field Selector' for each field.
c) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Delete Column'.
d) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save Layout' to save the changes to the 'Datasheet' view
NOTE: Changes in the Datasheet view ARE saved automatically by Access.
